Delete Account gives users the option of deleting their own account. Should help keep the inactive accounts down.
Installing it.
----------------------
Delete Account includes only a user external. To use it simply drag it into the externals folder and restart Hermes.
Setting it up.
----------------------
The first time you run Delete Account you will be asked to register it. Simply enter you registration number from Files Online, H/UX or Hide Hermes.
Running it.
----------------------
Each time a user runs the external they are presented with a single question 'Do they want to delete their account'. If they answer yes they are marked as deleted. A '•' is put next to their name, their deletion is noted both in the daily log and in the sysop note for that account.
Limitations, problems etc
----------------------
The biggest drawback to Delete Account is that it is up to you to make users aware that it exists. This shouldn't be that big a deal. In the future this won't be necessary.
Future features
----------------------
This external will probably be incorporated into End'r. That way a user will always have the option of deleting their account when they log off. I just need to figure out a way to do this so it isn't annoying to the user.
If you have any questions or comments about Delete Account, I would appreciate hearing them. I can be reached on Olympus or at the addresses below.
